The installation was a one day project by Trapped in Surburbia, we were challenged to create a 3D installation to depict the ‘essence’ we had chosen to reflect the character of 'Barry Bremen'.
My sentence to reflect Barry was 'don't take life too seriously'.
My Installation consisted of a bright orange water pistol that looked like a real gun (complete with cartridges that could be refilled with water).
I spray painted one side of the gun black to make the contrast between a serious side and a fun side. The idea was that you could take something serious like a gun and at first glance from the black side it would look dark and dangerous. However, as you get closer you realise the otherside is orange and it’s not a gun at all, but a water pistol and fun. Portraying the idea that things don’t have to be as serious as they may at first appear.
